Tour Wrap Up: The Underdogs by Isaac Kan

Contemporary Fiction

Date Published: 9/26/24

The Underdogs was inspired by my time building a tech startup during the golden era of San Francisco, when Uber and Lyft were just getting started and battling it out. It’s a coming-of-age, immigrant story following a set of characters who are all trying to create a better future for themselves, for society, and escape their pasts.

Readers have shared that this story reminds them of The Prestige. Two geniuses, who came from nothing, competing against each other in a market that preys upon those who also come from nothing. Others have reflected on the story as a cautionary tale that stands the test of time — How “the few, the chosen” may end up taking advantage of the very same people who they grew up with.

Tour Wrap Up: KING by Tory Richards

Maine Silver Foxes, Book 1

Contemporary Romance

Date Published:11-18-2024

King and Mia’s story…

King and Mia aren't strangers. Everyone knows everyone in the small Maine town they live in. However, their age difference kept them from traveling in the same circle when they were growing up. Brief glimpses and encounters, a long look, and the attraction between them were palpable but never acted on because of their marital statuses.

Twenty years have gone by, and this is the first time they are both single at the same time. That freedom allows them to pursue and act on their insane attraction, and nothing holds them back.

It's instant. It's hot. And it changes everything.

Tour Wrap Up: Off Edge by Addison Brae

Young Adult Contemporary

Date Published: 09-26-2024

Publisher: Black Rose Writing

Do you know what it's like to win an Olympic gold, then have it stripped away? I do.

Gold is every figure skater's life dream. At fifteen, I experienced the thrill of wearing the medal for a few minutes until judges accuse me of being too young to be eligible. That's when I realize my father's ultimate lie could cost more than my title.

During our daring escape from Russia, I pressure my coach to tell the truth about my adoption. But the quad combination and two world titles aren't enough to keep the scandal from erasing my career and identity. Disgraced, disqualified, and devastated, I can't face a rink, fans, or daily life. My controlling dad's betrayal lights a fire to break free from his bad decisions. My best friend and a journalist who will tell my story step in to stop the downward spiral and help me uncover my past.

The story of Docia's fierce determination to discover her true identity, unerase her career, and find the passion to skate again will engage teen readers, figure skating fans, and anyone who's ever experience betrayal from someone close.

Tour Wrap Up: Megastar! by R.J. Eastwood

Contemporary fiction and Romance

Date to be Published: May 1, 2024

Publisher: Indies United Publishing House

Dive into the mesmerizing world of “MEGASTAR” and experience a poignant tale of music, fame, love, and love lost. Nineteen-year-old Addison Stone, raised by a mentally unstable single mother, becomes an overnight international singing sensation. Still carrying the scars of his youth, he struggles to accept his sudden fame and fortune. Will it suffice to fill the void left by his tumultuous past?

With a twist of fate and a bit of kismet, Addison stumbles upon solace in his extraordinary singing voice. The stage becomes his refuge, but amidst the blinding lights and thunderous applause, there’s a deafening silence left by the absence of the woman he loved, lost, and hopes to reclaim.

As he climbs the ladder to musical acclaim, his heart remains tethered to a past he can never escape. He yearns for the love he once had but is lost to his addiction to fame and fortune.

From mother to son, the legacy of Addison’s turbulent childhood persists. Journey through the intricate roots of Addison’s life as “MEGASTAR” takes you on a captivating odyssey.

Praise for Megastar

In Megastar, readers receive a powerful tale of teen Addison Stone, who reaches the pinnacle of international singing success but also creates distance from the woman he loves, lost to stardom and addiction. The author blends realistic dialogue and character insights into the story of how pasts are either set aside or influence future decision-making. Libraries and readers seeking novels steeped in reflective accounts of changing love and ambition will find Megastar thought-provoking and worthy of book club debate and discussion as its hero attempts to move from tragedy to uplifting new possibilities in both life and love.

5 Stars. D. Donovan, Senior Reviewer, Midwest Book Review

Novels that feature celebrities are of enormous interest to the reading public. Megastar features teen Addison Stone reaching the heights of fame without the usual pitfalls that so often overshadow the rich and famous. The story concentrates on Addison’s feelings, portraying how money and fame cannot replace the loss of the woman he loves love. I kept expecting the story to take a different path, but time after time, I was surprised and simply had to keep reading to the explosive ending. I highly recommend this book. A well-deserved 5 stars!

Tour Wrap Up: The Corpsman's Wife by Sabine Chennault

Contemporary Women's Fiction

Date Published: June 23, 2020

Publisher: Hellgate Press

photo add-to-goodreads-button_zpsc7b3c634.png

Getting away from her abusive, soon-to-be-ex-husband, Susi Jury accepts the invitation of her lifelong best friend, Tracy, to attend the Navy Boot Camp graduation of her younger brother at Naval Station Great Lakes near Chicago. At a celebration for the graduates at a local bar, she accidentally spills red wine on a young, handsome sailor—Lance Wells. Love at first sight? Absolutely.

The next morning, as they lay in bed confessing their love for one another, she realizes that her life has just changed forever—and so far, for the better. Lance returns to the base and Susi to her home in Arizona. Soon comes the first hurdle in their relationship: Susi is pregnant.

What follows is a romance for the ages that spans more than twenty years. From a long distance courtship, followed by the birth of a daughter, then through marriage, overseas deployment, loss, loneliness, and eventually coming to terms with the effect that PTSD can have on a relationship.

As the years pass, Susi witnesses how Lance’s Navy experience as a Fleet Marine Force Corpsman changes him. A short deployment during Desert Storm, a horrific plane crash on Guam, the horrors of 9/11, and the Battle of Fallujah—all seem to drain the spirit out of a once vibrant and devoted husband, leading to an act of desperation that finds Susi in a situation she could never have imagined.
